From 2008 to 2012, Susan Lewis Solomont served alongside her husband, Alan Solomont, in Madrid, Spain, where he was appointed as U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Andorra under President Barack Obama. She was named International Woman of the Year by FEDEPE, the leading organization for Spanish women executives and directors. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree in education from Tufts University.

I bought this book for my mom who wanted to read it before she met the author and here's her review, " Before reading the book, I thought it would be all about what an embassy and ambassadorship are all about and the important role of diplomacy. It was that, but so much more. The author shared her feelings so candidly about the struggles she went through to find a place for herself in a different cultural environment and in a place where as an ambassador’s wife she had no official role. I was inspired with how determined she was determined to make a meaningful contribution and chart a new course in a very deliberate, authentic , and proactive way. This book is a “must read” for all of us who want to make a difference in the world.

I have read many books about people who have been in Spain, from Ambassadors to members of our Armed Forces, without a doubt, this is the best book I have read, very detailed and with moving and personal stories. Thank you Susan for such a wonderful book, will there be a second part?
