I got the first book in this series for free (after seeing it promoted on BookBub). My expectations aren’t too high for free Kindle books. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really enjoyed Girl Jacked: A Detective Jack Stratton Mystery. I want books to engage me, entertain me, interest me, with characters that I enjoy, maybe romance but not too much blatant sex or too much really foul language, and with decent editing without distracting mistakes. Girl Jacked gave me all of that and more. I enjoyed it so much that as soon as I finished it, I went to Amazon and immediately purchased the 2nd book in the series, Jack Knifed. I rarely actually purchase a Kindle book – so that alone is a top recommendation from me! After I finished the 2nd book, I again immediately went to Amazon and purchased the 3rd book in the series, Jacks Are Wild. After reading some if it, I realized that I was firmly hooked and went back to Amazon and purchased the 4th & 5th books in this series, Jack And The Giant Killer and Data Jack. I am finally disappointed – because I have finished all of these books AND I STILL WANT MORE! I will be anxiously awaiting publication of Christopher Greyson’s next novel – whenever that may be! The books in this series can be read independently, out of order, but I think you will enjoy them the best if you read them in order of publication.

Christopher Grayson does a great job of moving the story line forward and developing characters. He also builds empathy for Jack, a disfranchised police officer acting as a bounty hunter to make ends meet. In Data Jack, he acts as an assistant to his computer savy roomate and girlfriend, Alice aka Replacement. The duo investigate corporate espionage while Alice works side by. side with an attractive millionaire businessman. Will they solve the espionage before somebody gets hurt or killed? You'll have to read Data Jack to find out.

The series is very good and at the price per book I really can't complain. I look for something I call my "beach reads" where I want to pass time and be entertained. These books deliver. This book in the series was honestly my least favorite. I can see where he was going with it and it is clear at the end but the amount of time to get there made this a bit slow for me and I felt there were some loose ends. Jack sort of lost his "edge" and replacement really grew up. In the first few books I don't know why but somehow I felt Jack was much older and replacement much younger. As the relationship went from what I call innocent puppy love to something more serious I felt it was getting weird. It was to me like an older many of 30's was looking at a younger teen girl. I know - They are only six years apart. But in the writers descriptions and how he had the characters defined and act I had then much farther apart. So in this book when they want dot take the relationship farther it freaked me a bit. And not to spoil things Jack could have easily avoided a great deal of the conflict between he and replacement if he just said why he wanted to "wait". Alice would have understood since she really knows and respects her Aunt.

I stumbled on this series when the first book, AND THEN SHE WAS GONE wason an Amazon Promotion and I was placing a book order. It looked interesting soI added it for something different— from an as yet unknown author to me.I enjoyed it so much, when I finished reading it, even though I still had a box ofbooks to read, I ordered the other 5 books in the series: GIRL JACKED,JACK KNIFED, JACKS ARE WILD, JACK AND THE GIANT KILLER and DATA JACK.During the past week or so I’ve re-read AND THEN SHE WAS GONE, following thrureading each book in order. (Please note, each one is a stand alone story so this isn'tnecessary.) I’ve just finished # 6, DATA JACK. It should be said I have a lot of down time,which means a lot of time to read. I’ve found this series to be good enough to add to mylist of “favs”—mystery authors I follow and usually pre-order all their next books, not yetpublished. He’s joining the likes of James Patterson, Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwell,Jeffery Deaver, Janet Evanovich, Iris Johansen, Ian Rankin and Nora Roberts writing asJD Robb. If you enjoy reading their mystery books, you’ll probably enjoy Christopher Greysonas well.The characters are well developed and real. I think that’s one of the things I reallylike about Greyson. These characters are like “real” people. I can visualize them andtheir interactions with one another as if they were people I know. All the dialog isn’t infull sentences—but then I don’t talk that way either, do you? The stories are diverseand I’ve found them to be page-turners. That said, I've also laughed out loud onoccasion.The last time I checked, his newest addition to the series was only available forpre-order for kindle. I prefer literally, “curling up with a good book”. Today, I seeJACK OF HEARTS is being released tomorrow for all editions—so I’ve ordered it.I highly recommend this entire series to all who enjoy a good, well written mystery.
