In the final spread, "Jessie, age 9 1/2," expresses her feelings and creates a hope tree, each leaf representing one wish for the future. The writing styles change with the age of the animal. McPhail's full-page illustrations of the animal children in typical human situations are appealing, and his colors are soft and reassuring. Written with a great perspective.

The little girl I ordered it for keeps it close to her and cherishes it.

I purchased this book to help share with my 9 year old about breast cancer. I would highly recommend this book as the book is very well written, illustrated, and helpful.

The author has used various animal characters to discuss impact of breat cancer that stricks the entire family, not just the victim. This one is written for the younger child and is an excellent tool to open and continue discussion with your children concerning this rather serious subject. The book is written with great sensitivity, yet answers hard to answer questions of a level that most young onces can understand. It is yet another great too. Recommend this one highly.

Wonderful book for kids in PreK-Grade 2.

I think the illustrator should do all childrens books :) Loved the pictures! The different stories were captivating and heart warming. This book could be used for any illness a family member is experiencing. I would love to meet this group of children and just listen to them share. The authors did a good (and I'm sure had a difficult)job at choosing the stories for this edition. Job Well Done!

This book was purchased to give to someone special who's mother has breast cancer. This was recommended by someone who thought it was a wonderful book for children.

The blurb to this caught my attention - an ace, femme, neuroatypical guy with anxiety having a crush on someone - and the book delivered even more than I hoped for. We are in Izzy’s POV the whole time, which is done really well. Izzy is brilliant, but he often doesn’t GET nuances and social cues, so we the readers are often left knowing what’s really going on and waiting for Izzy to figure it out.It’s charming and unique and has FEELS (yes, I cried as well as laughed). I was a tiny bit dissatisfied with where/how it ended; it was such a struggle to GET there that I would have liked to see more of how things worked when they were settled. I’d also call it a bit more of an HFN than an HEA, which I suppose fits for college students, though I feel there’s definite hope for them to last. Still, that doesn’t stop me from loving it and recommending it highly.

This book made me happy on so many levels and I've recommended it to pretty much everyone I've spoken to since I started reading it. Izzy is delightfully honest and obliviously blind to the romance emerging around him and quite frankly, I absolutely ADORED him. Ronnie & Rocco were such wonderful characters both individually and together and their approach to Izzy and his idiosyncrasies was simply lovely. I could not #recommend this more. 5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Izzy is the best. It was frustrating at times while I waited for him to figure out what Rocco and Ronnie were offering, but so worth the time. The HFN ending was okay for the age level of the MCs, but I'd really love a follow-up book where we see what happens after they graduate. The idea of Izzy figuring out how to cohabitate post college is delicious. Please give me more of this delightful trio!

This story brought lots of feelings--tears and laughter. I would love a follow up where we see the boys happily ever after.

Other authors rely on explosions and non-stop action to bring their characters together. R Cooper doesn't. Instead, their writing focuses on the quiet moments, the lingering touches, the longing glances, and the eventual resolution of the pining. This book is no exception, focusing on the growing relationship between a quirky and unique MC and the two men who, instead of trying to change him, think those quirks and unique qualities are just part of loving him. A lovely read.

So cute and squishy it made me want to wrap up in a big sweater and spend all day at home reading.

Denise was a trip ,but like I knew after it was all said and done with she knew she had let a good man go although the book potrayed her as a social climber I felt so sorry for her and how she handled things and when I thought that her and Jeff would reconcile the enievitable happened leaving me feeling ripped off slightly. Nadine I just couldnt get with as her loyalties should of been with Denise and she should of never went there with Jeff as I saw it Denise's lies would of surely ended the marriage and Nadine would of been free to pounce on Jeff. I did not feel sorry for her because in my book husbands are hands off no matter the circumstances. All in all I thought this story was bulidable it left me with alot of what if's surely she could of got a sequel out of this. That is why I gave it four stars as I felt this story had so much potential and it soared and ultimetly crashed.

This is one of the first books that I have read by N'Tyse and I so loved it. I am glad that I added this author to my collection. Now to the book review. The characters, Denise, Nadine, Jeff, and Greg kept me on my toes. There wasn't a dull moment when reading this book. Denise was really on some other stuff in this book. I really didn't expect for it to go in the direction it did.If you are looking for a great read, this is the author for you. I need to play catch up. After writing my review, I will be ordering some of her other works. I am reading the sequel as we speak.

When you think of typical, this book is not it! The twists and turns in this books will have you on edge wondering what will happen next. Denise and Nadine are best friends, however Nadine has been sleeping with Denise's husband Jeff. Sounds typical right? WRONG! I wondered about Denise, is she really that cold or just misguided? Just when I was starting to maybe like her, the book twists in yet another direction. I seemed to have developed a soft spot for Jeff, so I will be interested in seeing what happens to him the next installment. If it hadnt been for life getting in the way, I could tell you that once I picked it up, I couldnt put it down. If you try this book, you will most certainly not be disappointed with this one! N'Tyse... 5 stars to the max!

I would read this book a few more times if I could fit it into my schedule. N'Tyse did her thing with this one! Denise was truly twisted for everything that she did but in the end, it didn't turn out as she expected. Nadine, Jeff, and even her daughter Deandra were just little pawns on her chess board. Hotness! It was a little different from what I'm used to reading but she got what she deserved! So glad I read this, and you should too. I'm just saying.

This book captivated me from beginning to end. Can you say crazy? The main female character is beyond crazy! The twists and turns of this story had me shaking my head at the actions of the characters. I would definitely recommend this book to others, but get book 1 and 2 (Twisted Vows of Seduction) together because you will want to keep up with these character's stories!

This was my first read by the author and it was a great read. Denise and Nadine are best friends, but once the secrets come out things will change.

This book had a great story and plot. I was pleasantly surprised at the twists in the storyline. It was really entertaining and hard to put down.

Money aint everything and God don't bless no mess. In the age of sidechick dramas, albiet good ones, like Scandal and being mary jane, any readers that find themselves coveting another woman's husband should read this cautionary tale. The pacing is very good, the sex scenes are off the chain, and you won't believe the ending.

A fascination has slowly built over the four years I've lived beside the house."Most of the neighbors ignore the Marwick residence, going out of their way to avoid it. Even when tenantless and "dormant" the house oozes a dangerous aura that infiltrates the thoughts of those in close proximity.When a young, desperate looking woman named Anna moves in, something stirs Jo into action. Whether it be curiosity or simply one lost soul needing another, she decides to break down the boundaries and greet her new neighbor.". . . I didn't have much experience welcoming neighbors, but I was pretty sure telling them their house was haunted was the sort of thing people weren't supposed to do."Darcy Coates puts a heavy emphasis on the atmosphere in this novel. Everything seems almost "weighted down" by the malice that emanates from the house, reaching out and touching all that it can. Even the weather conditions mimic human emotions as the apprehension and fear continue to increase.Anna, who has left a violent relationship, has no alternative but to stay.". . . Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for good things."As the story unfolds, we learn more about Jo's own tragic past, as well as that of Anna, and the horrifying night that Helen Mavwick had died. There were several secrets and "twists" to the story near the end that added an entirely new level to an already gripping tale.This is only the second book I've read by author Darcy Coates, and already I'm looking forward to more.Recommended!

This is my favorite Darcy Coates book so far, and I have read all of them but 2. It is unusual to have a haunting that is not happening in the main characters house and she does an excellent job. I did have some small nit picky issues with some of the writing towards the end of the book(***slight spoiler***for example the main character states that it wasn't possible for a certain someone to hang himself and therefore the police would think she did it. Why was he incapable? People hang themselves all the time! and why hadn't she called the police in the first place while he was still alive and harassing her and Anna?) however, the rest was well enough written that I didn't worry overly much about the little things that made me scoff or roll my eyes. I definitely look forward to more books by this author. Keep 'em coming!

This seems like an average scare your socks off ghost story...then it becomes more, and more, and is it a psychological thriller after all, with a human villain...? You will have to read the book to find out, but have no fear: our intrepid author delivers yet another great story...will there be a sequel? (Or sequels?) Only time will tell...was that a note on the piano in the parlor...? A++

I wasn't sure if I should give this book a three star or four star rating. I wish I could give it three and a half stars. It was a really good book---a pleasant, engaging read. But it's also a haunted house story, which has been done so many times. The author did a good job of inserting truly scary moments into this novel. But it is still, in my opinion, just a worn -out genre. What made this book different and unique was the humor. The book is narrated by Jo, a young woman who has lived next to the haunted Marwick Mansion for several years. She knows people don't stay there for long. She watched a family with children flee in the middle of the night, leaving everything behind, including toys and clothes. They never even came back for them. Then one day, eight months later,she sees a woman, a few years younger than herself, moving in. Alone. Jo has never been inside the Marwick House, but she wants to know if the new occupant has any idea what she's gotten herself into. So Jo takes some muffins and goes to meet her new neighbor, Anna. Anna says she moved because there was something wrong with her old house. And Jo thinks to herself, "There's something wrong with this house, too." I loved the sly, understated British humor. I read reviews of this book that mentioned it was funny, and I thought, How can a book about a haunted house be funny? But it is! The plot of this novel centers around the horror theme, the malevolent spirit and the house it haunts. But the real heart of this book is Jo and Anna, and to some extent Lukas, Jo's cousin. The book is about Jo's opinions, thoughts, feelings, and perceptions of the house and Anna. (Also, mild spoiler alert: Jo's cats are fine. They disappear briefly but then they return safe and sound.) It's also about friendship and loyalty. At one point, Anna and Jo are trapped in the house. Then, the door creaks open, offering Jo a way out. However, Anna is still in danger. Jo has to make a choice, leave the house and save herself, or stay and try to save Anna? There is also a very interesting section of the book where the spirit's power increases to the point where it spills out of the house and starts affecting the entire neighborhood, putting everyone into a sort of trance. Jo's thought processes totally change, and it's interesting to hear Jo speaking in her voice that we've gotten used to, but although it's the same in some regards, it's also totally altered. She's speaking in Jo's distinctive style, but also expressing thoughts totally alien to the way Jo thinks. The problem is that although there are some really riveting sections, there are other times the book seems to move a little slowly. It's still definitely worth a read.

I feel I can recommend any Darcy Coates book, and this is no different. Jo lives next door to the Marwick House and has seen spooky things happen, including one night when she was awakened by gunshots followed by the family racing to the car and leaving without ever returning to even get their clothes. Jo has seen lights come on and off in the empty house throughout the night, and her cats will not step on the yard, as if sensing something. Then a young single woman moves in next door and Jo worries that she is vulnerable to the ghosts in the house. But after Jo meets Anna she finds she must work hard to save the life of a person that thinks her safety is not in danger.
