I have never been more dumbfounded by high reviews for a book in my life. Never. Come on...admit it...you're relatives and friends of the author...or young adults easily swayed. Or you like cheesy drivel for romance. I don't get it. I have never read anything so fast paced and so predictable about characters without any depth, whatsoever. I read 3-4 books a week, and never have I read anything so silly. Fast paced insta-love predictability, with cheesy dialogue and full of outdated cliches that made me groan. Gavin "Anaconda" Adams is a football player trying to branch into acting and doing a poor job of it. He's an arrogant, but charming manwhore that's lost his zest for women....until he runs into Brianna Sayles. And she awakens a fire in him that he thought was dead. All because she runs from him.Even though the writing of this story isn't that bad, it's not good either. It's a silly and predictable story of a celebrity who becomes fascinated and intrigued by the innocent and shy charms of a country girl. The plot has so many holes in it that I lost count. But, how old are our protagonists? A clue or a hint would've been nice. And this guy is the main draw of a movie he's making...so WHY is he doing his own very real fight scenes where punches are not being pulled? He ends up in the hospital...and with good reason. THERE WASN'T A STUNT DOUBLE! And does this author not know anything about anal sex? Apparently not because that whole scene was beyond ludicrous and had me rolling my eyes and slapping my forehead. I've read insta-love stories before...but this took the prize for faster than a speeding bullet instantaneous. The humor made me groan it was so sad...and so not funny. Like, have you ever had someone tell you a joke that made you groan because it was just so dumb...and all you could do was stare at the person wondering if they were serious? Yeah...like that. Oh, and then...AND THEN...the book stops at 34%...but wait...there's another groaner story attached. Gads...I gotta wade through more of this drivel...

This was painful to get through. I am pretty stubborn and always finish a book once I start one, but finishing this one tested my patience. The characters feel like they are written by a teenager who has no idea what being an adult is like and is just making stuff up. The main characters are flat and unrealistic, as are the supporting characters. Bri is supposed to be primarily a college student working at the hotel part-time, but the entire book is spent with her working shifts at the hotel; not once does she attend class. At the very end, the author lets us know that Bri has supposedly been on break from classes this entire time, but by the time we learn this fact, it feels like an afterthought. Bri supposedly hates her job because her boss is such a jerk, but the few times they interact, he speaks harshly to her and not much else. Bri's back story isn't in the least believable and I don't understand the childish relationship Bri and her "bestie" have either; they are downright annoying together. My final issue is that the sex scenes are repetitive and boring. If I have to hear about how Bri's va-jay-jay "clenches" one more time, I am going to scream! God save me from half-assed and unimaginative love scenes! Add in the fact that this "insta-love" story takes place in 1 week and even my ability to suspend brief for the sake of a story has reached its limits. This is my first book by Ms. Landis and if this is the best she can do, it is the last one written by her that I will purchase. I encourage you to look elsewhere.

What she doesn't know is Gavin is ready for a change and is in hot pursuit of her. Brianna is different than any girl he's known. She goes to school and works hard supporting herself. Brianna is definitely not his usual type and he realizes this instantly. What to do about it? He!! if he knows. She is definitely throwing him off his game. Brianna's life is in this small town, school, her friends, he's just here to film a movie in the offseason. Gavin is a star running back and up and coming actor, who is leaving in a week......How's that going to work?AMAZING STORYLINE WITH COMPLEX CHARACTERS ! THE CHAPTERS FLEW BY SMOOTHLY AND FLAWLESSLY ! THE CHEMISTRY WAS OFF THE CHARTS AND THE SEX WAS RAW AND SMOKING HOT ! ! ! ANOTHER MUST READ FROM LAUREN !

LORDDD the man on the cover is hottt and with the title like Anaconda I swear I giggled with glee!! like hands down that got my attention!!As for the story!! lord I love every second of it.. the banter between Gavin and Bri I love every single moment.. yes they had moments where you just wanna slap both and say "GET IT TOGETHER STOP BEING ASSES!!!" i know many wanna know "How's the smut" Okay i enjoyed the smut it gave me many feelz.. and i was suprised about one act.. since well he has a biggggg!! ;D i would recommed this story to my friends!!

Very interesting. I can tell that the author did ann that he or she could to make 'entertaining' as well as 'educating' the audience a top priority.

There are precious few books available which deal with the writing and production of shorts, which is odd considering the grown explosion the form has gone through the last few years, so I almost hate to be critical of what information is available. That said, this 1994 guide is in desperate need of updating, as it does not deal with short films in the digital medium. Now that digital video has made it even easier to produce a short--not to mention that it's opened up the possibilities of what can be accomplished on film on a budget--the process of making a short needs to be addressed in the current context. In addition, with the number of internet sites specializing in shorts, and the practice of most film festivals of accepting digital submissions, the possibilities of making and distributing a short have far outgrown what this book covers. Please, Mr. Levy--give us a new edition of this fine guide!

Edmond Levy in one book has given me a basic outline of what I would need to construct a film from start to finish.The beginning touches on screenwriting techniques, then moves into some pre-production necessities. From there he briefly touches on production and then a short chapter on post-production (editing) and distribution.This is a survey book and is in no means somthing to take as the "end all say all." But if you are curious or have some very general questions about the topic, then this is the book for you.

This book does an excellent job on the basics: how to write a treatment, develop a script thru the process of story outline and character profiles, the use of storyboards, the basics of directing and editing and on and on. It's all basic, yes, but a good starting point for the beginning filmmaker. The emphasis is the short, independent filmmaker where most of us started and most future great filmmakers will also. I use it for a course I teach for the American Film Institute called Movie Camp and in the basic moviemaking course I teach at Montgomery College. The students seem to find it very valuable.

This is just another "how to make a film book". We are taken step by step through all the processes and given insight into the technicalities. However, it feels like you've heard it all before. Good for the begginer.

This book has a charm of its own, but the title in misleading. It's not primarily about the manufacture of the Apollo Spacesuit, but rather a history of the times. My disappointment comes from the fact that I was genuinely interested in learning about the suits themselves and I found myself becoming bored with chapters that had absolutely nothing to do with spacesuit manufacture. I kept flipping through page after page until I came to sections that talked about suits and only suits. I didn't buy this book to read about JFK's many ailments, or about cyborgs, or about NASA relationships with T.V. networks. Remove yourself from the mindset of spacesuits and this book will work. I didn't have the patience to read through the miscellaneous junk. Now that I know what it's about, I sent the book to the Thrift Store. A fitting tribute.

A beautiful bountiful book. This is a high quality look at the design (and what that design means to us in other contexts) of the Apollo spacesuit. It covers a lot of ground, engineered as the suits were, with handcrafted layers that perform many different yet interrelated functions. So we have chapters on the actual construction of the suit, and chapters on cities and simulation and JFK. It's sometimes wordy, is not afraid of big concepts, but it is always lively. A flexible mix of human and technical interactions. The point is that unlike most of the other systems that got us to the moon, a space suit is best fashioned to the evolved biological complexity of the human body, a second skin, rather than an engineered off-the-shelf hard shell.We are treated to a smart romp that deftly combines fashion, politics, ergonomics, space travel, architecture, history, corporate culture and an iconic journey to the brave new frontier. Physically, "Fashioning Apollo" is quite an elegant book (even though it is soft-bound with a "rubberized" dust cover). Text and photos are all of superb quality, glossy throughout; and it has a nice smell to it (something you'll never get from a Kindle).If you're looking for a nuts and bolts technical book, this isn't the book for you. There are several other excellent texts that fit that bill. This is more of a series of essays on a variety of subjects, not always directly related to the spacesuit, but somehow always returning. In some ways, it reminds me of "Of a Fire on the Moon" by Normal Mailer - more of a "feeling" than simply straight reportage.I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but overall, I think it's a great book. It takes a variety of historical viewpoints, ranging from Dior fashions, to the detonation of the first hydrogen bomb, to the shocking state of JFK's health, to the fact that Wylie Post's eyepatch helped warm the icy oxygen that was pumped into his first altitude suit, and manages to pull them all together into a very well-written book.Any shortcomings would be related to its intended audience: it doesn't seem "technical" enough to satisfy the space-geek-types, but there is not a huge pool of 'non-geeks' who are likely to be interested in this sort of thing. Having said that, "Fashioning Apollo" appears to have been well-researched, Mr. de Manchaux is obviously an accomplished writer, and I highly recommend this book.

I was so excited waiting for this book to come and to look through it. Once I received the book I have to say I was disappointed in it overall. There seemed to be more emphasis put on what happened before the spacesuits were even being considered. I understand why the history of Playtex, Latex, and DuPont were included but what does a mental hospital have to do with the Apollo Spacesuit.My father worked for ILC Dover so I guess I know a little more about the history than the average person even though he could not talk about what he did at work each day. As much respect as I have for the ladies that did the sewing on the spacesuits and the managers who were part of the design and competition phases, what happened to the other necessary steps of making the suits a reality. The model makers and machine shop were not mentioned. I can understand that many parts of the process may still be classified, but it would have been nice if all steps of building the suits could have been recognized for their hard work.
